Mammals

This is what I learned about mammals.
1. All mammals have hair on their bodies.
2. All mammals have well-developed brains.
3. Mother mammals nurse their babies.
4. Mammals are warm-blooded.
5. Most mammals care for their young.

The shrew is a mammal. It is tiny but fierce.
It can eat animals bigger than itself!

The Purple Cow

This is a poem I copied and memorized a few days ago.

The Purple Cow
I never saw a purple cow;
I never hope to see one.
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I'd rather see than be one.

Mom's Note: By Gelett Burgess (1895).

Baby Giraffes

Most mammals give birth lying down.
But did you know that baby giraffes are born
with their Moms standing upright during labor?

From a height of about six feet, the baby
twists midair to land on its feet.

Isn't that neat?

Nature

Nature is for people.
Do not destroy Nature.
There won't be much of it
left for my generation to enjoy if you do.
